Bandwidth: every server has a 10 Gbps port. Traffic is the monthly outbound allowance, pooled across all your servers. Incoming traffic is free, and past your pool it is $2 per TB.

Setting up
Self-host n8n in three steps.
- 1. Deploy n8n in one clickPick the n8n app when you deploy a Lite. It runs in Docker and opens in your browser.
- 2. Put it behind HTTPSPoint a domain at the server and use a reverse proxy such as Caddy, so webhooks and logins use HTTPS. Set n8n’s URL variables to that domain.
- 3. Back up the encryption keyn8n encrypts your saved credentials with a key stored in its data folder. Back up that folder with the database; without the key, a restored copy can’t read your credentials.
Busy instance? Switch the database from SQLite to PostgreSQL, and add Redis and workers for queue mode, which n8n doesn’t support on SQLite. A Lite 6 has room for all of it.

What the n8n licence allows.
Self-hosted n8n is under the Sustainable Use License: you can use it for your own internal business purposes, or for non-commercial or personal use. Automating your own company’s work on your own server is exactly that. Selling n8n itself as a service to others is not.

Is there an execution limit?

How much RAM does n8n need?
n8n publishes no figure; memory grows with the data each run handles. Our one-click app runs from 1 GB, so a Lite 2 is plenty to start.
SQLite or PostgreSQL?
SQLite is the default and fine to start. Move to PostgreSQL for a busy instance and for queue mode, which doesn’t run on SQLite.
What do I back up?
The n8n data folder, which holds the encryption key for your credentials, and the database.
Can I use it for my business?
Yes, for your own internal business purposes under the Sustainable Use License.
