Billing

Hourly billing and the monthly cap

How LiteKeep bills a server by the started hour from your balance, why a calendar month never costs more than the monthly price, and where to watch your spend.

Last updated 27 October 2026

An hourly server is charged for each started hour, from your balance, from the moment it is ready. Within a calendar month (UTC) the charges stop once they reach the plan’s monthly price: the rest of that month costs nothing more. Add-ons such as a Windows licence have their own cap.

How the charge adds up

  • Each plan has an hourly price and a monthly cap; both are on the pricing page.
  • Every started hour adds the hourly price, so a server run for 90 minutes is billed 2 hours.
  • When the month’s total reaches the cap, it stops growing until the next calendar month.
  • A server you delete mid-month only ever paid for the hours it existed.

Watching your spend

On Billing, Burn rate shows what your servers cost per hour now, and Usage this month breaks it down. Each server’s Overview shows its own total against its cap.

Low balance warnings

We email you when about 72 and 24 hours of credit are left at your current rate. What happens at zero is in when a server bills, and when it stops.

Is hourly right for you?

Hourly suits tests, short projects and anything you might delete. For a server you will keep all year, a Keep costs less. Our guide to hourly vs monthly billing runs the numbers.

If a charge surprises you

  • A stopped server still bills. Delete servers you don’t need.
  • A Windows licence is charged on top of the server, up to its own cap.
  • Months are calendar months in UTC, so the cap resets at midnight UTC on the 1st.
