Save SSH keys in your account

Save your public SSH keys on your LiteKeep Account page so new servers are created with key login and no password. Adding, naming and removing keys.

Last updated 27 October 2026

On your Account page, under SSH keys, give the key a name, paste the public key and press Add key. At deploy you can then choose the SSH key option, and the server is created with that key and no password.

Add a key

  1. Copy your public key. It is one line starting with ssh-ed25519 or ssh-rsa, usually from a file ending in .pub. Never paste the private key.
  2. In Account, under SSH keys, enter a name (for example “laptop”) and paste the key.
  3. Press Add key. You can save up to 20.

Don’t have a key yet?

Create one in two minutes with ssh-keygen -t ed25519. On Windows, our SSH keys on Windows tutorial shows every step.

Remove a key

Press Remove followed by the key’s name. This only affects future deploys: a key already on a server stays there until you remove it from the server’s ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file.

If a key is refused

  • You pasted the private key (it starts with -----BEGIN). Paste the matching .pub file instead.
  • The key was split over several lines when copied. It must be one line.
  • You already have 20 keys. Remove one you no longer use.
